Cleaning and maintenance of brushes

We remove the remnants of paint from the brush. If the brush was used for water-based paints, we wash it in warm suds; carefully squeeze. Brushes used for other paints should be washed in pure spirit or a suitable thinner, and then in suds and press thoroughly.

To clean cotton pads and floats, we remove the paint remaining on them, using an old newspaper, and then we clean them like brushes, using either water, be spirit, be a thinner – as needed. We leave it to dry.

After washing, shake the brush vigorously, to get rid of the water. We put a rubber band on it, to collect the bristles. If the elastic band is not too tight, will ensure the correct shape of the brush. We hang the brush to dry, with the bristles down. When it dries up, we put it in a plastic bag, that it does not get dusty. We always store brushes flat.

If we stop painting for a short time – we don't need to wash the brush. We wrap it with foil, so that it does not dry up too quickly, or immerse in water.
