Wallpapering with self-adhesive veneers

Wallpapering with self-adhesive veneers

Self-adhesive wallpapers are covered with a layer of glue on the underside, which acquires adhesive properties when immersed in water. In a wallpaper store, you can buy a tray specially designed for this purpose, but any long container will do the job just as well, in which you can dip the roll of wallpaper.

Cut off the sheet of the desired length, roll it loosely in a roll with the pattern inwards, so that the water can reach the entire glued surface. make sure, that the "loose" end of the sheet is just that, you want to place under the ceiling and immerse the roll in water for a minute.

Grasp the top edge and slowly pull the wallpaper out of the water, letting the water drain into the trough. Then press the sheet against the wall with a clean one, with a damp sponge, with movements from the center to the edges, and wipe off any excess glue, which may appear on the sides. If the wall is covered with polystyrene foam, before hanging the self-adhesive wallpaper, cover it additionally with backing paper.

Activating the glue
Carefully pull the top edge out of the tray, that the water drips back into the container.
