Preparation of ceilings
First of all, remove any lighting devices that may interfere with your work, after disconnecting the power supply, and then insulate any exposed wires. Assess the condition of the paint and plaster.
If he's good, wash everything with diluted gray soap and rinse with water, taking care, that it does not get into the electrical system.
If you notice nicotine stains on the ceiling, prime them with clay paint. Emulsion paint will not cover traces of stains from leaky pipes or roofs, they will need to be covered with oil mortar or a special paint covering the streaks. Kitchen ceilings are often covered with a film of grease. If you don't delete it, the paint will not stick well.
The same is true for rooms, in which there are stoves: the soot and dust layer must be removed before further painting, to prevent discoloration.
Any cracks must be filled with putty. For that, where the old glue paint remains, peel off any flaky pieces, and wash off the remaining paint or cover it with a primer-filling paint. If you find large amounts of dust, pull the ceiling with a layer of stabilizing primer paint.
Any loose wallpaper should be completely removed from the ceiling; if it holds up well, it can be left and painted over. Always remember to remove any glue residue after removing the wallpaper. If, after washing, blisters appear on well-adherent wallpaper, after drying, you have to make an incision and glue the edges of the incision. remember, that sometimes the wallpaper hides the cracks in the ceiling or the wrong matching of the boards, so if the paper still sticks tightly, best to leave him there.
