Wallpapering tools

Usually expensive and specialized tools are not needed to glue wallpaper. However, the wallpapering table makes it easier to glue long stripes of wallpaper or other material with glue. It's worth making sure, that scissors or knife, we are going to cut the wallpapers with, they are really sharp.

Basic essentials

Depending on the type of work, we may need some specialized tools for (appeals. Below is a list of basic tools:

Wallpapering table – A sturdy, special wallpapering table is a smart investment. It is easy to carry, storage and assembly. Provides a stable surface and facilitates the lubrication of wallpaper, glue. It can be replaced with an old smooth door based on trestles.

Pail – Do kleju używamy czystego plastikowego wiaderka. Tie a string crosswise between the places where the handle is attached – we will base a glue brush on it, when we don't use it. We will also need something to mix the glue.

Glue brush – We choose a brush with a minimum width 10 cm and we only use it for gluing. Scissors We will need one scissors with long blades and one small.

Knife with replaceable blades – For cutting thick wallpaper or PVC; along with it, we will need a steel line for marking the cutting line. For trimming thin, Sharp scissors are best when wet wallpaper.

Smoothing brush – It is also known as a pasting brush. It is used to get rid of air from under the already glued wallpaper and to press it against the ground. It should always be clean and dry.

Sponge – Niezbędna do usuwania nadmiaru kleju, while it is still wet.

Joint roller – A roller made of hard rubber or ebonite is used to tighten the joints, when the wallpaper is already stuck. It should not be used for embossed wallpapers.

Masonry plumb – It is used to define vertical lines. It is very important for wallpapering. A real plumb line will be better than a simple string weighted at the bottom.

Chalk line – This very useful string covered with colored chalk dust is put against the wall and "shoots" with it, to leave a temporary mark on the wall.

Pencil – We choose the one with HB graphite or softer for clear marking. A pencil that is too sharp or too hard can damage thin wallpaper.

Tape measure – A typical tape has 3,5 m in length, which should be enough to measure the standard height of the rooms. Longer measuring cups are also available (if we need them).

Ruler – Is very important, to have a ruler of length equal to the width of the roll of wallpaper (usually 53 cm). Square. A large square or square will help to do this, so that the wallpaper cuts are always at right angles.

Abrasive block – It is useful for removing the remnants of old wallpaper from the walls, that we can discover on the cleared wall. A sharp scraper can also come in handy.

Clean rags – For wiping the wallpapering table during work, we choose cloths made of dust-free materials (for example, we can use an old sheet). Other materials may leave fibers on the countertop.

Trough with water – A tray will come in handy when sticking wallpaper pre-coated with glue, in which we will soak their trimmed fragments.

Ladder We will need at least one ladder, to reach the tops of walls or ceilings. If we have two ladders or trestles and a board, we can build scaffolding, on which we will work.
