How to fill cracks and gaps?
Amount of time, which you will spend on sealing cracks and holes, it will affect the final effect of renovation works. Standard putties are best suited for preparation of plastered and wooden surfaces for painting. They are sold in the form of a paste (in cans or tubes) or a powder that is then spread with water to a creamy consistency.
To seal small holes, it is enough to fill them with putty and smooth the surface with a putty knife.
When moving furniture, the edges of the walls are often exposed to bruises. Fill the defect with several layers of putty, until a slight bulge is formed. After it solidifies, sand the bead with sandpaper. Minor, shallow cavities on a well-painted surface can be filled with a special surface filler, pressing it into the crevice with a wide spatula and thoroughly cleaning the area of the crevice with sandpaper, until a perfectly smooth surface is obtained. Cracked plaster on the ceiling can be hidden under a thick layer, special paint that stretches under the natural displacement of the ceiling.
1 Crush the edges of the slot with a putty knife, to widen the hole.
2 Replace debris and dust, then moisten the crevice with a brush soaked in water.
3 Push the prepared putty firmly into the gap, and then smooth it with a putty knife.
4 Let the putty harden for several hours, then smooth with sandpaper.
