Floor paints and special paints

Paints for floors

They provide protection for wooden floors, concrete and tiles, they resist even intensive use and abrasion. They are applied with a brush or roller; they can be water-borne or solvent borne. It is believed, that they work better on wooden floors than colored stains – give a more lasting effect, effectively protecting old boards and staves, they also hide their heterogeneous colors.

Wiping the surface

Wiping (tarnishing) the surface of the substrate is done after that, to increase the adhesion of paint or varnish. To roughen the surface, need to be scrubbed, using steel wool or sandpaper, and sometimes just wash with soap and water. What kind of abrasion is needed, we will find out from the recommendations of the manufacturer of the product used.

Special paints

There are special-purpose paints. For example, enamels for radiator pipes, which can be applied to a hot substrate and which do not crack when exposed to high temperatures.

There are also paints for kitchen appliances, such as refrigerators, for covering melamine and acrylic surfaces (kitchen cabinets) and for painting glaze and terracotta. Always use them in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions – perhaps they will require a primer and (or) surface abrasions before painting.

Anti-corrosion paints are enamels, which prevent the metal from rusting. By applying them, there is no need to use a primer or an undercoat. Anticorrosive paints are available in a version giving a smooth surface or imitating forged metal.
