Foil wiping

Foil wiping

Using a crushed foil bag, we can get the effect of unevenly applied paint. The result will be very subtle, slightly crumpled velvet. You can use darker paint for the background and lighter paint for the top, or vice versa – it's worth experimenting with colors before painting.

How to achieve the effect

1 By painting over small areas, we use a wide brush, to apply a stain or diluted paint as a top coat with vertical strokes.

2 Then we press the crumpled thin foil bag to the surface of the paint, quickly tearing it off and pressing it next to it with gentle movements – so that the wave effect is created. Let's try not to smear the paint when removing the foil from the decorated surface. The resulting patterns should overlap – in this way we will avoid ineffective stripes in place, where one area ends, and the other starts.
